Honiton Maternity Unit-East Devon

I am posting this thread to ask for your support. Very recently and unexpectedly our first class community Maternity Unit was downgraded to a birthing unit offering NO post natal care or support. In fact their policy is now to try and discharge women after only 2 hours giving birth. There is now a campaign to have the maternity unit re-instated to its full service and was hoping that you would be willing to show your support.

We feel that sending mothers home so soon after giving birth, particularly if the mother doesn?t feel ready could result in a number of complications and health problems for mother and baby. We are concerned that there will be an increase in the number of mothers experiencing postnatal depression due to inadequate postnatal care and support and that there will be increased numbers of mums and babies being readmitted due to feeding problems that could be avoided. For further information please cut and paste the link below to the Facebook Campaign Page. You can simply join the group or take things further by writing to MPs.

My Thanks to you inadvance for reading this.
