Spatone Iron supplement

I can't take iron tablets as they make me sick. Have been talking spatone which is a natural iron water in a sachet with orange juice every morning for a few years.

I am so tired at the moment I have started to take 2. It says on the packet that if you are pregnant you can take 2. I am not pregnant but it is making me feel better.

Do I need to go and see the doc? Have had blood tests before and am quite low on ferrin or whatever it is but not really low.

I can't remember how much of your daily allowance is in Spatone, but I think it is lower than the tablets? Do you take it with orange juice, as the vitamin c can help you to absorb it. Most of the tablets make me sick, but I can take ones called ferrum which aren't iron sulphate. They are French, very posh! I can't get my iron store up, although my circulating iron is just OK.

I love the 'normal range', it is so big! I am about a 7, but lucky me, I am due for a test next month. Apparently it is slow to build up.

choclab · 22/03/2010 15:51

lol i know ... im "normal range in iron to 12.8 ... normal is between 12,5 and 15 ....

stleger , did doc say you were anemic then ?

stleger · 22/03/2010 16:17

He doesn't say I'm anaemic. Apparently I am approaching the menopause, and once I get there I will hopefully be OK for iron stores. He hopes... if not then we'll consider more tests...

I know the spatone is not as much iron as the tablets, i wish i could take them. I had to have an iron infusion type thing when i was preg with dd2. Big bag of black stuff through a drip, took 8 hours but god i felt better afterwards.
I've told the doc that i take spatone before but she had never heard of it.
