Yes diet does contribute. FIL has type2 and if he does not eat regularly he ends up having a hypo especially if he has taken his pills. His hypers happen when he eats and does not take his meds and when he insists on eating chocolate bars!

forgot to say - hypo is low blood sugars hyper is high blood sugars. FIL has put himself in hospital in a hypo induced coma and also in a hyper induced state too.

Discovered a friend of mine has Type II diabetes yesterday. He gets hyperglycemia (highblood sugar) if he eats anything sugary.

Strict diet cutting out sugar, care with alcohol, plenty of excercise and careful monitoring with an occassional use of a special drug have all helped him get it well under control in the 2 year she has had it.

I am asking as i am concerened about someone

If someone who was on insulin (injections) was having lots of hypo's and hyper's how should this be handled by GP's, hospital etc ???

They should be under hte care of a diabetic clinic/nurse at either the GP or the hospital. Uncontrolled diabetes needs to be checked by the GP and refered onto the consultant.
