Help, my eyes are really sore

Does it sound like conjunctivitis? Obv not expecting reliable diagnosis but ouch they are so sore.

Ds2 did have gunky eyes the other day and his are better now, mine have been a bit itchy but this morning I got up about 3am and they were really quite bad.

Having trouble focusing on screen, everything very blurry and watery. i also have a sore throat and a bit of a cold, generally feel lousy.

I'm just checking really that it doesn't necessitate A&E. I'm sure this is something very very serious, actually.

also will paracetamol help. I have to get ds1 later and am not sure if I can drive like this!

Hmm, reluctant to diagnose over t'internet (and am only a scientist-type doctor, not a clinical on ) but it does sound like it could be conjunctivitis. Go ask your local friendly pharmacist - they can give you some eyedrops if they think it's appropriate.

Thankyou, oh clever one

I feel relieved that you didn't suggest an ambulance.
I have just resorted to ds2's eye drops that were in the fridge from the other day. They are really stinging! But hopefully in a good way...

I recently had an eye infection- sore, very red, watery bit swollen, not gunky though just very watery. It appeared just as I was getting over a nasty cold and sinus infection.

I visited the nurse at GO she suggested antibiotic drops, which are actually available over the counter- Optrex Infected Eye Drops with Chloramphenicol.

Unfortunately 5 days later my eye was no better so GP sent me to eye clinic (she didnt have equipment to take a detailed look in my eye). They prescribed different drops that have done the trick.

I think I was just unlucky though- maybe you could try the over the counter drops.

Hope you feel better soon.

Oh thankyou, gosh that sounds bad - I am struggling with one day here! It really hurts doesn't it!
Have got the OTC stuff, ds's cleared up within a day or two so hoping mine does the same...glad yours is sorted now though.
