How do you deal with quickly worsening varicose veins in pregnancy?

I'm only 12 weeks pregnant hopefully with second child. In first pregnancy I developed a horrible, rather uncomfortable varicose vein in my right calf, which got worse as the pregnancy went on, and had stayed like that since. Now, 12 weeks in, the vein has 'gone varicose' (don't know the term) all the way up to my mid-thigh (bulging, dark navy, yuk).

First time I used some knee-high support tights, and found that brands varied in effectiveness, but now I'm wondering what you do with it going up the thigh.

Can anyone advise? Thank you!

you can get full leg support stockings

maybe worth seeing the GP or asking the MW

You can get preg. support tights. From good department stores.

Also you can lie down on floor or bed and put your legs up as high as poss against the wall twice a day for 10 mins. depending on the pain that you're in.

Thanks for your responses - will ask midwife next week, but in meantime will go to John Lewis and see what they've got. Thanks.

i had these (closed toe hold ups) prescribed by my gp in last pregnancy and current one - they do help relieve the pressure.

Ooh thank you mummydarlingsausage! I'll have a look. It's getting a bit grim and having nightmares about what it could be like in 6 months' time
