i have had sinusitus for 10 years and have been treated successfully with nasonex for 5 years. i havnt used it for 2 year as i stopped taking it when i was pregnant 2 years ago. i have been treated for 5 sinus infection in the last 6 months so asked my doctor could i resume treatment with nasonex to prevent anymore infections. i was told nasonex does not prevent or relieve symptoms for sinussitus. so left surgery empty handed. the thing is i am in pain with my sinuses on a daily basis and have to rely on painkillers and decongestion tablets. i mentioned this to the doctor and she said this was fine to carry on doing this. i have never been referred to a specialist or offered any type of surgery to help me. does anyone know if there are any treatments out there that work other than painkillers. any advice would be appreciated thankyou

HA HA me 2 i hate taking pills i do steam's with olbus oil which helps allot, i go for hopi ear treatments and that helps when things get bad but its a cost should really go more often to get nore benefit. My mum had the operation to fix her sinus's but it sounds grim but after the last attack i had where my face swelled so much i couldnt open my eye i am considering it.

Ive found this thread by doing a google search for Nasonex, as I was prescribed this before for a sinus infection, and it did work, but the website says it is used for hayfever type symptoms?!

I suffer with my sinuses badly at least once a year, and im still trying different things to see which work.

Sinutab and sudafed have not worked for me, but one thing i have used which i found really good is Otrivine sinusitus spray. If any of you havent already tried it, give it a go as you can combine it with painkillers and decongestants.

I'd go back and ask again, nasonex or beconase are both valid treatments to prevent nasal congestion and sinusitis. There is a small risk or septum perforation with long term use.I would be lost without it as have used it for years.Be cautious with otrivine, if you use it continously for more than a week,it can make things a lot worse.
