Any ideas why I am having problems with my glands ?

Will try to be brief. About a week and a half ago, I felt like I had pulled a muscle in my groin. Pain gradually got worse, and was accompanied by swelling, redness and hot to touch skin in thigh/groin area.

I went to the gp who straight away said that it was an abscess. He poked an prodded me and the bit that actually hurt was where he said my gland was a bit swollen.

He gave me a weeks course of ab's and by the time I had finnished them (on monday), all was well.

Then yesterday I started getting pain in my neck/throat, roughly where you'd feel for your pulse. I think there are glands around that area aren't there ?? It was a dull ache which turned sore on swallowing, and very sore if pressed. I had some ibuprofen and eventually the pain went.

Have now woken up this morning with the pain in my neck again, and it feels like the pain in my groin is also coming back. There is no redness or swelling at the moment just a slight bruised feeling.

I am starting to feel mildly freaked out and wondering what is going on. If things are no better by the morning then I plan to go back to my gp.

Is it likely that the groin and neck thing are related ?? I am thinking my glands must be fighting something maybe ?

Any ideas ?

You have glands in lots of places - neck, armpits & groin being some of them. They can swell when you have an underlying infection of some sort (including colds, flu, glandular fever etc) and they may all swell at the same time or be more noticeable in one place than another. I'd go to the doc just to make sure

Thank you.

Do they normally hurt when swollen ?

Also is it worth asking for a blood test to check for anything or am I being overdramatical ?

Mine hurt when they swell up sometimes - your doc is best person to ask. There's no harm in mentioning a blood test. Best thing is not to get too worried until you've seen him.

How are you now Mrs Morgan?

I have a similar problem and go for full MOT bloods tomorrow.

I have just taken myself upto bed cos I feel so lethargic. My whole neck, shoulder and underarm area is sore as hell. Have been like this for weeks but it seems to have really taken hold this past week.

Did you ask for blood tests? Anything come up? Did you get a diagnosis? Hope you feel better now.
