ds is 2.4 and has had a bit of a cough/ bad throat the last few days. this morning i noticed a couple of red spots around his nappy area when i got him dressed. I have just changed his nappy and noticed there were a few more (prob only about 7 or 8 in nappy area) and then noticed he had a few random ones on his body, all raised like pimples and bigger than nappy rash ones.
is this likely to be chicken pox? and if not do you have any idea what else might be causing it? he says it isn't itchy (so far) and seems to be happy otherwise. if it is chicken pox does it usually start off slowly spot wise with a bit of a cough/ cold beforehand?

Children can get colds and coughs before hand, some children react badly high temps, can't be soothed e.t.c others don't even bat an eye lid, and most prob are a mix inbetween.

It does sound like chicken pox to me, i hear it is doing the rounds

do the spots start off slowly?

Are the spots fluid-filled? If so, then almost certainly chicken pox.

i think it is different for all children, i know that appear quicker in hot areas so in the nappy area is likely spot.

How many spots does he have else where, check on his scalp, feet, e.t.c

They do come out over a couple of days

not many yet but certainly more than this morning. and i've just noticed about 4 behind his ear which i believe is bit of a give away? oh pooh i'm going to have to take the rest of the week of work. Still at least he seems quite happy.
