What is wrong with me? Not flu but not a cold.

I have been completely wiped out for the last week. It started with a really tight chesty cough and v blocked sinuses.

For the last four days I have had a really bad headache - I think it is caused by blocked sinuses? And my whole body aches - I feel 'swollen' all over and just ache all over. Have lots of snot but it doesn't ever clear. Still have a bit of a chesty cough but it is eased by taking my asthma inhaler.

I've been off work for the last week as there is no way I have had the coordination to drive or the wherewithall to actually engage my brain. Have been napping on and off during the day but waking up in the middle of the night with the headache.

Should I go and see the docs? Is there anything they can give you? Is it just some wierd virus? I've been taking decongestants and paracetamol but I don't think they're making a difference.

DH is working all weekend so won't have a chance to rest as will have to look after dd.

Sinuitis? I would be heading for the gp on monday,it makes you feel awful.
You could try doing a steam inhalation-head over a bowl of hot water with olbas oil or vicks.
Lots of fluids, regular painkillers and get to the gp after the weekend.

Thanks - have just googled - I think that's what it could be. I've lost my appetite and sense of smell as well.

Have been trying to drink as much as but can just about manage a few slices of toast to eat over the course of the day.

Will try the steam inhalation - how long do you do it for?

jesus christ alive, i have this too!!!!

thought i was going mad and wondered if it was all in my head. it's like the onset of a really heavy cold but the heavy cold stuff hasn't come yet. i feel exactly as you describe, have done since monday evening.

So glad you posted, thought i was going mad as it's hard to pinpoint what's wrong and with no obvious signs of illness, croaky throat, heavy cough etc, i suspect dh thinks im faking!

i wish you well

I had this aswell, I have termed it snottyitis. It's going really slowly.

TrinityIsFuckingTrying · 26/02/2010 17:54

I was just recovering from this when I got mastitus
but even now about 4 weeks since it first started I wake up full of snot every morning and feel knackered still

it sucks

DH is in his third week of this. Week one was fairly groggy, week 2 very bad and getting over it now but feeling wiped out still.

Two people I know at the mo also have infected sinuses, you need antibiotics if its this.

DH just uses Anadin Extra

Do your steam inhalation until you feel some of pressure has gone (you will have some lovely snot oozing out too hopefully.

I get this frequently,it really makes you feel ick.
Cut out dairy too as it creates more mucus.

If it hurts to press above your eyesockets and on your cheekbones, you probably are infected (headache and facepain when you bend over too).Antibiotics will clear it up.

Hope you feel better soon.
