VASECTOMY - does the White Stuff change???

MathsMadMummy · 26/02/2010 16:32

My DH and I agreed that as we are very lucky to have a DD and DS (DH also has older kids) and he's 42, we don't want any more kids.

DH said he'll get a vasectomy, but Dr said we should wait a couple more years so I'm getting the Implanon first.

I'm a bit wary of the whole vasectomy idea anyway... does it change things? If there's no sperm in the semen does it come out, erm, different?

Basically if anyone's OH had a vasectomy, were there any 'side effects' or whatever...

TIA

No you still get a wet patch.

youpirate · 26/02/2010 16:36

No difference at all.

Dumbledoresgirl · 26/02/2010 16:38

No difference in appearance. I can't comment on taste.

Dh had no side effects. It certainly didn't affect ahem performance. He did take a long time to get the all clear though, which was a shock.

I had to think then what vesectomies had to do with White Stuff clothes

Malificence · 26/02/2010 20:21

No change at all.
Sperm makes up less than 5% of seminal fluid, things like hydration levels and length of arousal change the volume of semen.

It looks , feels and tastes exactly the same.

He may feel that he isn't ejaculating as much but that will because you are having lots more sex to clear his tubes, don't believe the 20 ejaculations rubbish, it took DH over 50 to get clear.

He will have a really horny period about 3/4 weeks afterwards, that is the sperm backing up in the epydidimis and he will feel rampant, like he needs emptying all the time - it's perfectly normal.

why wait a couple more years? Get him down the vets now

cyb · 26/02/2010 20:26

FWIW my dh NEVER got the all clear, that was 4 years ago

GoldenSnitch · 26/02/2010 20:39

Just wondering why the doc said to wait a couple more years MathsMadMummy?

We have a DS and a DD and are quite happy that we're now finished having children but DH is only 32 (I'm 31), I'm getting quite worried that they're going to try putting him off too.

No change in appearance, although I have noticed my hubby is alot more...wet?

MathsMadMummy · 27/02/2010 10:06

What do you mean by 'the all clear'? We haven't looked into the process much. Does it mean you're officially infertile?

Dr said we should wait as I'm only 23 and have only just had DS (lots of people change their minds after a year or 2! I don't mind waiting at all, as I'm not completely 100% sure... maybe 99.9%
