Hi all.
I'm not sure if ive put this on the right thread but at 3am this morning my carbon monoxide alarm was bleeping like mad, I called british gas who comfirmed there was carbon monoxide in the air, my boiler has been disconnected and waiting to put a new one tomorrow. Thank God that we have got the alarm or I wouldnt be writing this now.

Just want to tell you if you have got an alarm please get one, this has knocked me for six. So scarey.

Thank goodness you are all OK!!

We have one, I brought it last week as ds was asking. £20 from Wilco's.

Oh KDS, thank heavens! What a nightmare. Good you're all okay. These stories send a shiver down my spine.

I've been on DH for ages to make him install on. I recently bought 2 for the house. Where ist it best to install them? Downstairs is the kitchen and upstairs are our sleeping rooms? Might o it myself, he keeps saying he's busy.

Thank you everyone. Just glad we had the alarm, I can't stop thinking about it.

Kittyonthebeam - The best place to put it would be outside your bedroom, thats where ours is, which woke us up. I would advise everyone to get one,

I'm just glad the landlord had the common sense to install one coz we wouldn't have even thought of getting one.

We are still without the heating and hot water as the landlord wants to get repairs for the boiler instead of buying a new one the engineer did say tho that they might not hsve spare parts for this boiler as its very very old. Fingers crossed they dont have the parts, we do need a new one.

So glad you're OK Kidsdontsleep - if your landlord won't get a new boiler this charity might give you some advice about your legal rights concerning trying to make him. A member of my family died of CO poisoning in his sleep - I can't understand why they can't put ads on TV that don't just mention smoke alarms but CO alarms as well.

kidsdontsleep · 25/02/2010 20:43

I am so sorry to hear about your sad loss.

There should be more on the tv about carbon monoxide. Thanks for the link, if the landlord didnt get one in the next few days I will call that charity,
