Hi
Can anyone advise ?
My 18 mth old gets nappy rash frequently - usually when left in a dirty nappy for more than 10 mins (which happens occasionally at her nursery). This time though its a blotchy rash and not very red or raw (i've seen worse). However, this time she seems to be in more pain, HATES getting her nappy changed or sudocreme wiped on, and she seems to be in agony when weeing for about 2 mins.
I thought about a UTI but she has no other symptoms like fever etc and is in great form otherwise. Could it be thrush ?
Is canestan cream for adults suitable ?

Bigbird - could be a UTI - there are not always other symptoms. Get her to drink as much water/fluids as possible and probably best to see your GP

If you are unsure about it, then I would get the Dr to look at it. It could well be thrush. (Is it around her anus?)

Canestan is fine to use on kids - mine was prescribed it at a few days old! Apparently thery can even eat a whole tube of it, and come to no harm (sigh - don't ask....)

My dd also suffers like this, what nappies do you use? What juice does she drink, could something she is eating or drinking be making her wee very 'strong' We find this is a problem if dd eats citrus fruits or drinks the ready made heinz fuit drinks. She also seems to be worse in the hot weather.

I've never really thought about it bing a UTI though and it does alway clear up so I presume in her case it isn't. Worth seeing the doctor though if your not sure
