I did Atkins a couple of years ago. lost the bloated belly within a few days. Lost about a stone in the first month. I felt so energetic and all the aches and pains went.
Then I went to Italy and all that home made pasta and pizza put an end to it.
I really want to do it again but can't get past the first few days before I cheat . And I love wine.

I've heard there's a new higher-carb version of Atkins, which I might do.

Thank you everyone for the info. Custy, you look great, but you looked great before. I look like Mr Blobby so there can only be improvement

Carbs are really my thing. I can leave chocolate, sweets, puddings etc. Give me bread, pastry, pasta and I'm happy as Larry. Weight loss or not I need to sort that out.

I am going to try this despite worries about health and putting it all back on. I can't eat much fruit or bread because I get IBS anyway and always feel immediately better when I cut these out.

I have been re-reading my Atkins book today.

One question (as I haven't got to that bit yet) - how do you measure how many carbs you are eating? Say you want a bag of salad or a pile of green beans - how do you know how many carbs you are eating?

I will try the sugar free sweets for pooing purposes Noddy!

I have done slimming world in the past and don't think that is particularly healthy either - it encourages you to snack all day (ime) and allows you to eat aspartame laden food. And I didn't lose any weight on it either!

there are many sites on google that will give you a carb count on anything.

but the carb value of lettuce is so low - i don't count it as i round up other calculations

you will soon be able to calculate what you are eating

so 4 mushrooms = 2

1/8" slice of onion - 4
tomato = 5
bell pepper = 5

philidephia cheese is 0.5 per oz

can of tomatos = 12

those are my staple ingredients - and you will have yours just google " how many carbs in green beans"

hold on will do it...

Approx 2 carbs in 1 oz, or 28g, of cooked, snap or string, green beans

Approx 2 (just less) in 1 oz or 28g, of raw, snap or string, green beans

Approx 7 carbs in 3½ oz, or 100g, of raw, snap/string, green beans

Approx 8 carbs in 3½ oz, or 100g, of cooked, snap/string, green beans

Approx 10 carbs in 1 cup (4.4 oz, or 125g) of cooked snap/string beans

Approx 32 carbs in 1 pound, about 454g, of cooked snap/string green beans
