Pins and needles

Can anyone help?

I've been having odd 'pins and needles' kind of feelings in my right hand for a while now, its mainly in my little and ring fingers.

My hand doesn't always feel 'strong' enough to do what I'm asking it to iyswim. I'm struggling to hold things like saucepans and plates sometimes.

I was drying up this morning and as I turned my wrist, it was really painful like someone had given me a chinese burn. It only lasted for seconds but now the tingly sensation is much more pronounced.

I've also got a strange numb sort of feeling in the hand.

Any ideas anyone?? Or am I just a freak of nature!!!

Carpal tunnel syndrome? GP.

mumof2teenboys · 16/02/2010 11:14

I thought of carpal tunnel, but that seems to affect the thumb and fingers on that side of the hand. The other symptoms of carpal tunnel don't seem to fit either, I'm going to have to go to the doc's aren't I?

Ulnar nerve entrapment. Try googling that.

Does it fit?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/02/2010 12:29

does sound like ulnar nerve.

Yeap. Sounds like ulnar nerve entrapement. Commonly caused by either compression at the wrist or at the inside of your elbow joint. Needs examining to determine which site and then some manual therapy.
Off to Gp I reckon.

Thanks ladies!!

I've just googled ulnar thingy(!) It seems to fit pretty well, off to make a doctors' appointment now.

Mumsnet rocks!!!

watching with interest. I have severe pains, in thumb and first 2 fingers. wake up with a claw. But have been private and told not carpal. has now started again. extremely painful. will check out ulnar.

There is actually a condition where prolonged compression of the ulnare nerve can cause 'Claw Hand'. I'd go back to the doc - things can be done to stop this
