Why am I bleeding?

First day of LMP was Mon 1st Feb. Nothing unusual with my period, lasted about a week as normal.

But this evening I have had a slight bleed. Fresh & bright red.
Only when I noticed the bleeding did I realise I've had slight stomach cramps this afternoon, but nothing painful.

So, any ideas what this is? Should I be concerned? This has not happened before.

No idea but I think some women do bleed at ovulation.
I'm sure someone will be along to help better.

Probably an ovulation bleed - usually a small amount of fresh blood accompanied by one sided tummy pains. If it happens any other time in cycle though, or heavy, prolonged or after sex, needs checked out by GP.

I don't normally ovulate so soon after lmp though, my cycles are quite long (32+ days).

And what would cause a period so soon after the previous one?

I do often have ovulation pains, but never the blood before. It's just scared me a bit!

I have just been to the Drs with the same problem. She suspected hormonal reasons but has taken a few swobs to rule out infection and Chlamidia. She checked my last smear and was happy with a clear one a year ago. She said I may have to have a scan and pollips (sp?) and fibroids are a possibility.

It did happen to me one time, but I think it was the next cycle after I had antibiotics for chlamydia- gyneo said it was normal after an infction.
If it has never happened to you, I would maybe check it out- as others say, cysts etc.
