Could I have done some damage to myself?

I really really struggle to drink enough, even to the point of not drinking for upto 2 days (that was last week, no food or drink for 48 hrs) and not yesterday either (but ate thick soup). (recovering anorexic, please don't judge)

Today I have woken with mild, regular pains in my lower abdomen, with some pains in my arm.

What does long-term dehydration do? Could I have done some harm?

How are you doing sweetie?

deepdarkwood · 16/02/2010 21:35

How are things, twoisplenty?

twoisplenty · 17/02/2010 08:48

I'm touched you thought to ask...I am doing ok thank you. Eating well. Drinking a bit, hating it, but I am able to do it.

I am enjoying the half term holidays, so things are quite relaxed here. We're off out today, so today should be nice.

So I have got over the panic and fear of things generally. More counselling tomorrow, so we will see how things are after that. I am thinking of taking a break from counselling for a month or so, and then try again.

Hope you are all doing ok, and managing the holidays too.

That's really good to hear

deepdarkwood · 17/02/2010 16:45

Fab - sounds like things are feeling a bit more chill - although how you're managing that in half term I don't fully understand

We'll be around if you need to chat....

That's a paradox isn't it, being relaxed in half term! Actually, I only feel of any use when with the children.

In the holidays I have the children, and how the day is spent is within my control.

When on my own in school time, I get pulled in all directions with physios, speech therapist, doctors, and other professionals all wanting things done, and meetings, letters, epilepsy nurse, school nurse, social services etc etc all wanting me. In the holidays it all stops.

I hate the phone ringing (in term time), I dread the post, there is so much to do to ensure that my ds is ok. I am currently awaiting the LEA's decision on my ds next school in September. If they don't place him in the school we want, then we will have to appeal. Dreading the LEA decision.

There's lots more going on that can't be discussed on the www, so I always feel overhwhelmed.

And that's where the ed comes in. It feels like it's the only control I have.

twoisplenty If it's any help I'm online almost constantly, so if you need anyone to talk to, it can sometimes make things a little less overwhelming, I'm always here and you can CAT me.

That's really kind Kaloki. Thank you. I shall be back on MN next week I think, too busy now!

Hi TIP, I have read through your whole thread and I have to say that I really admire your strength in this situation

You've put so many times that you have had a bad day, but then listed loads of things that you have eaten, so that part of it might be that you feel you should be eating much much more than you can manage.

I've been making a list of suggestions from what you've said works for you.

you like warm food:
you eat porridge and soup. excellent.

what about:
custard (maybe with some cake in it as you said you like biscuits)
Hot chocolate (you can make it really thick by adding a tea-spoon of cornflour) Maybe with marshmallows for extra thickness.
cheese sauce. (you knwo, the proper thick stuff, not the stuff from the packet)
gravy (bisto do a lovely one that you can thicken by adding more granules)
tomato sauces : like bolognese or pasta sauces.

but any fruit and veg is good. your soup should have fibre in it too, which is great.
and the biscuits cover that criterion too
can you manage pasta at all?
or if not, can you make a mash? mashed potato with carrots and swede in, that kind of thing.

all of the above things are fluid whilst (hopefully) not being too liquid.

of course, if you can do biscuits, then maybe make some flapjacks with fruit in.

nickelbabe, I don't know how to express, I am more than touched by your thoughtfulness, and you know what? You have just listed all of the foods I like! These are all foods that are thick but with a high water content, and I like them. Thank you so much.

I saw my counsellor on Thursday and she suggested extra help specifically with the ED. She suggested something like acupuncture or reflexology, that kind of thing. I am looking into it.

I shall certainly give the hot chocolate, and custard a go first. The porride and soup diet is continuing! I am doing ok, I am managing to drink a cupful of weak juice a day, and that seems to be ok.
