If you?re seeing the practice nurse, I would imagine another test ? everyone has ?spikes? occasionally, particularly if your last meal before the test was pizza or Chinese, or sticky toffee pudding

After that a fasting glucose test is the most likely next step, I would think. That means not eating from about 8pm and having a blood test the following morning before you have anything to eat or drink. That will give a more definitive answer.

I thinks thats what I have had. Because I have PCOS my gp has started doing them. I was 7.5 for my first test and 12.9 two hours after when I had all the lovely lucozade.... The second number seems to have jumped a lot since my last one which was about 24 months ago.

Hi Loflo,

You actually tend to go onto to have a glucose tolerance test if the fasting blood glucose was inbetween "not diabetes" and "diabetes" - if you see what I mean?

With polycystic ovaries people can have a tendency to be "insulin resistant" ie your body treats insulin in the way that people with type 2 diabetes treat it,so your sugars can sometimes be higher than they should be.

Looking at the results you've quoted they do look a bit high and could mean that when you go to see your doctor it might be because they want to discuss whether or not they think you have developed diabetes (or blood tests that would indicate diabetes) - think of all the questions that you might ask if this is the case and take them with you written down so you don't forget - might be worth taking some-one with you.

godd luck.
