Tendonitis in the ankle/foot

Hiya,

I've found out this morning that I have severe tendonitis in the ankle/foot, along with a soft tissue injury.

I've been given crutches as I can not rest it as much as the doctor wants me to (was in A and E) primarily because of the school run.

I am using an ice pack and rest to help with the swelling.

However, the doctor was concerned that due to how severe it is at present, it may take a long time to heal.

So any ideas on what else I can try?

Thanks

Is it at the back of the foot/ankle - achilles tendonitis? I was told two things with mine (am very prone to tendonitits) was to take anti-inflammatories regularly, not just as pain relief but to decrease inflammation. The other was to do some specific exercises to stretch it out. You could ask for a physio referral. One I was shown was to stand on a step with my heels hanging off and very very gently sink down through my heels. That def helped.

You could also ask to see a chiropodist who could look at your foot wear. light summer sandals make mine worse.

hth a bit and hope that you get some relief quickly.
