I think it depends.

With my oldest two mine came back bang on 8 weeks post partum despite them still feeding frequently, although they were sleeping through at night.

With dc3 it never returned until 9mths, he was on three meals a day, feeding 3 or 4 times a day and a couple of times overnight.

I have a friend who is still BF her DD age 3 once a day, and still has no sign of hers!

So basically anything goes. I can't remember with the first two but sure it was before now. May be never will, as could go straight into menopause, am 45, and that would be fab

With both my boys I stopped bf at 6 months and my period came back a month later.

Dd's (12 months) feeding has just started to become a bit less regular with her wanting anything from 2 to 4 feeds in a day and none at night.

The week before last she only took two quick/small breastfeeds most days (then she cut a canine tooth which explained why) and last week I got my first period.

The last couple of days she's been back up to 4 feeds a day, so its anyone's guess whether my periods will go back to being monthly or be erratic for a while.
