Does this sound like a migraine?

I sometimes get a headache which always starts about a day beforehand with a tingling, numbing sensation on the left hand side of my face. When the pain in the head begins it always takes the form of a shooting pain in the same side of my head that the tingling is in my face. It lasts for 2 to 3 days and does not really improve with paracetamol. Could this be a migraine? When I was a teenager, I had a couple of very bad migraines which involved vomiting and blurred vision, slurred speech etc and this is nothing like as bad but painful all the same!

Do you clench your jaws or grind your teeth? That's one possible cause.

You should ask your doctor for advice.

I suffer from migraines and what you describe could, in deed, be migraine. But, as belgo says, you really need to see your doctor to have this confirmed. Other possibilities need to be ruled out and he may also be able to prescribe some better treatment for you as well. Ime paracetamol and most other otc pain relievers are pretty useless with migraine.
