VinegarTits · 05/02/2010 22:19

Yank how old is he ? i am sure you have tried this, but when ds2 was little and getting used to falling asleep on his own i used to put my top that i had been wearing that day, in his cot, if he could still smell me, and he would be more settled

I've an ironing question, Vinny.

Should I get a compact ironing board, or a large one? I can't decide.

No seriously, I've become paralysed by indecision, and I want to start ironing regularly, but our current ironing board is knackered.

BitOfFun · 05/02/2010 22:35

Controlled crying works well after six months, but the older the better, they reckon.

VinegarTits · 05/02/2010 22:39

i would get a large one wasting, but i am not am expert on ironing boards, for years i didnt have one and ironed on my kitchen worktop, much easier now that i have a large one though

DreamsInBinary · 05/02/2010 22:40

Mitts would know the answer to that, Wasting.

DreamsInBinary · 05/02/2010 22:40

Er, as would Vinny . Sorry Vin!

TrillianAstra · 05/02/2010 22:41

Controlled crying is a proper technique too (I'm sure you know this already, but you might need to explain to Mr Cock) - it's not just leaving the baby to cry, it's more complicated than that.

TrillianAstra · 05/02/2010 22:43

I know things that I should not know.

Bigger ironing board = much easier to iron, but harder to store. Simples.

BitOfFun · 05/02/2010 22:44

I did CC with dd1, properly. Worked a treat.

DreamsInBinary · 05/02/2010 22:45

I did CC with both of mine, Yank. Very quickly had happier, well-rested children.

VinegarTits · 05/02/2010 22:49

when ds2 was little i would put him in the cot, then potter about upstairs for a while, coming in and out of the room so he knew i was still close, yes he would cry at first, but he soon got used to it, not sure it counts as CC, but it worked for me

It is hard though yank, but i tried not to tip toe round ds2, he would fall asleep to lots of background noise

you are still bf right? when you go near him he can smell your milk, so will want you, maybe another reason why he wont settle, xp used to sometimes put ds2 to bed for me, and i would stay well out the way so he couldnt smell my milk, he settled eventually

none of this probably helps you, im talking shit i i know, it is the wine

TrillianAstra · 05/02/2010 22:49

It does seem rather stupid that baies are not born knowing how to go to sleep when they are tired. Maybe it's because human babies are all born too early (big brain, walking pelvis, evolution etc)

MyCatIsABastard · 05/02/2010 22:50

Yank - I did CC with DS and, apart from illness, teething and growth spurts, he sleeps pretty well. I couldn't do it with DD because she screamed til she was sick and I was too pfb about it all.

wastingaway · 05/02/2010 22:54

Thanks. I'm checking them out on the Argos site.

wastingaway · 05/02/2010 23:02

I always fed DS to sleep but he spontaneously started pulling away while still awake and I stick him in his cot and he goes to sleep now. This only started at about 15 months though.

Don't know how much help that is, other than that they do sleep eventually.

TrillianAstra · 05/02/2010 23:16

Think I will take my book to bed. Have a nice evening, those who haven't gone off already

oneofuscannotbewrong · 05/02/2010 23:22

Night-night.

oneofuscannotbewrong · 05/02/2010 23:22

Oops.

VinegarTits · 05/02/2010 23:23

bof i am touched that you described me a gently refined in rl (at least i think you meant me )

VinegarTits · 05/02/2010 23:24

Hello oneofus

wastingaway · 05/02/2010 23:24

VinegarTits · 05/02/2010 23:46
