I feel rotten! I have been diagnosed with pneumonia. I have had 3 courses of antibiotics to no avail.

I was starting to pick up again but then caught a cold off my son so now I feel dreadful again, full aches, pains etc etc

I have been ill for nearly 6 weeks now and the only thing that has improved is my breathing.

Do I just ride this out or call NHS direct for advice? I;m starting to feel like a hypochondriac!

Do have a doctors appointment on tuesday but not sure if I can manage feeling this rough til then, I;ve gone all pathetic in this!!

Has anyone had experience of pneumonia - I worry as I had it when I was a little girl and the doctors kept ignoring it until I nearly died from it - I don't want to be all dramatic though!

Any advice would be great

sorry for the long waffle

Hi - I'd advise you to bell NHS Direct straight away.

If you're on your 3rd lot of antibiotics and have just picked up another cold, I'd be tempted to think your immune system has taken a bit of a kicking.

Don't worry over it though. Just give them a bell and make sure you keep drinking plenty whilst you're at it.

No bother - let us know how you get on.

they've advised I speak to out of hours, I know they'll just want to give me more antibiotics so I'm going to wait until I see my proper doctor on tuesday. Paracetemol is my friend at the moment!!
