Broken vertebra

DH collided with a car this morning whilst cycling to work and as a result has fractured a vertebra (T6). Is there anyone out there who has any experience of this? Its early days and we know he will recover fully but we have to pay the balance of our holiday by Sunday and have no idea if he is going to be well enough to travel in 8 weeks time.

He is currently in hospital and they are fitting him with a brace tomorrow.

Any experiences re recovery time, mobility, pain etc would be welcome.

It will depend on what part of the vertebra was fractured, and how severely etc. I think the best way of confirming your questions reliably would be to speak to the Consultant responsible for DH's care and then you can be certain you are making a decision based on proper advice specific to the individual case.
