oh yes, although it's a diabetic drug, it is now used for women with pcos. I haven't got my meds mixed up.

I was on Metformin for PCOS as few years ago, I didnt have a bald patch but my DH used to call me 'Goat Beard' so you can imagine how bad my facial hair was!!!! I lost weight on it and I did notice a big difference in the reduction of facial hair but it didnt disappear completely. its now very fine and very pale, hardly noticeable really. Stick with it, it took about 6 months for me to notice any difference. Good luck x

thanks. good to know it does work in the end! Are you still on it now?

Hi, no I'm not, I had a severe allergic reaction, called Stevens Johnson Syndrome to the antibiotic Trymethaprin (dont know how to spell it!!) and was critically ill in hospital, had all sorts of problems afterwards but strangely enough the PCOS got better!! I have to be very careful Except I went from erratic periods to very heavy prolonged ones! I now have the Mirenal Coil

I have pcos but no excess hair , interested in the weight loss associated with metformin.

dd has been diagnosed with it now

Metformin doesn;t make you lose weight on its own - you need to combine it with a good diet. What it does do is regulate the blood sugar so you don't feel hungry when you shouldn't be.

My gynae recommended red days at SW - that is restricting carb intake as one of the symptoms is that carbs don't get used effectively

yes I am on low carb diet

just hoping for cure-all pill
