ooouuuchchhh

woke this morning and my neck felt a little stiff by the time I had come to getting the kids coats on for school I couldn't turn my neck to the left without getting a sharp pain

now it's getting worse the pain has spread into my left arm I cannot turn my neck more than a little to the left and it's painful to do so, it hurts when I raise my left arm, and if I move my neck to look up or down

now I have quite a high pain threshhold but this is pretty bad

what can I take for it, what could it be, I have to go to work later on and I'm not sure how I'm going to get on cos I clean and just making a sandwich for dd was bad enough

You need to get yourself checked out I'm afraid - the sooner, the better.

Ibruprofen is best for this kind of pain. Alternate hot and cold compresses help. If it doesn't settle I would see if you can find a local osteopath.

thanks only just checked back, pretty sure I can't afford to see an osteopath hoping that it will sort itself out

It seemed to ease after the nurofen and some deep freeze spray but then got worse again as they wore off

Got up this morning to dreadful pain and spasms in it and after some more nurofen feels a bit better

Going to see how it goes on over the weekend and if it's not better by Monday will go to the docs

I had exactly the same, after a diagnosis of pulled muscle (not sure how the doctor knew, he looked at me from accross the room) I went to a different hospital, the doctor x-rayed it and said it is spondylosis or spondylitis. Can't remember which. It is painful for a week or so once it starts up then almost overnight it disappears. Mine is generally brought on by dd hanging off me.
