worried Im getting pneumonia again :(

I had really bad pneumonia 7 years ago and ended up being rushed to hospital and nearly didnt make it.
Been ill with bad cold that turned into bronchitis for 2 weeks now, chest pains and coughing up dark green yucky stuff. Went to GP last Monday and was signed off work for 2 days and told had viral bronchitis so antibiotics were no help.
Ended up having whole week off as felt so ill and on Saturday night got very bad upper back pain, worse when breathing in. Saw a different GP yesterday who said I was actually very ill, given strong antibiotics and told if no improvement by Thursday I would need chest x ray and blood tests. Doc said I had pleurisy as well and has signed me off work for 2 weeks.
My husband is now away till Thursday night, I know its early for the antibiotics to be kicking in yet but my chest pains are getting worse and Im terrified of ending up in hospital again.

So sorry Littlefairy - you must be feeling terrible, glad you finally found a doctor to start treating you.

I had pnuemonia and pleurisy 12 years ago and it really is a double whammy, kind of creeps up on you too as you don't realise quite how poorly you are feeling.

Do you have children that you are looking after? I'd be tempted to go back to the GP tomorrow to get them to check that you are responding to the antibiotics. And don't be scared about going back to hospital if you have to - they know what they are doing (cos they've already sorted the pair of us out once ).

I'll be thinking of you over the next couple of days.

thanks piprabbit, have got 2 kids but theyre teenagers so not too bad, but I also have a 4 month old puppy who is quite boistrous!!!
Still got chest pains and feels like an elephant is sitting on my chest!! Hoping ab will start working soon

Pleurisy is extremely painful - sympathy all round. Hope they are looking after you - and take painkillers! You need them!

thanks, elephant is still present all the ab seems to have done so far is give me an upset stomach, think my cough is slightly better fingers crossed
