i slipped while getting out of the bath, hit my right hand side approx where ribs are on the side of the bath - not too painful.

But, i cracked my head on the sink, just above my eye, which has turned black already and is rapidly swelling and tingling. I feel a little sick, but thought if it was concussion that i would have to actually be sick??

I am here on my own, sitting crying and shaking - what is best to do? (please be gentle, i am in a bit of a state)

Well, be careful, I felt just the same as you and then got worse a couple of days later and had to go to A and E, they said I should have been checked out in first place.....

jetcatisfrozen · 24/01/2010 18:56

My ex partner's brother, when he was small, banged his head at nursery. Went to A&E with his mother who is a nurse and was sent home as appeared fine.

Was sick later and 'not right' so his mother took him back and had him xrayed and he had a teeny tiny scull fracture.

I say due to actual sickness, go to hospital/minor injuries. Poor you.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 24/01/2010 19:06

Yes, vomiting can be an indicator of a skull fracture

FabIsGoingToBeFabIn2010 · 24/01/2010 20:21

No, actually I am not okay and I did it in November.

you were sick, you need to get yourself to a and e.

you have kids and you might get seriously ill in the night.

please

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 24/01/2010 20:46

FAB - do you still have memory problems? My concussion was 18 months ago, I am still not quite as sharp as I was before I did it. (sorry for hijack of thread)

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 24/01/2010 20:48

not saying that will happen to you OP, by the way, sorry if i sounded insensitive ...

FabIsGoingToBeFabIn2010 · 24/01/2010 20:50

My memory has got worse since I had my kids so it is hard to say if it is worse since I banged my head. I am on meds so that affects me too.

Hope you are okay Fanjo.

I hope she has got seen too, the poor thing.

I am pretty much OK now, it has just taken a while, I stupidly walked at high speed into some scaffolding, pushing buggy

FabIsGoingToBeFabIn2010 · 24/01/2010 20:58

I was even worse, Banged head 3 times in a week or so, the 3rd time on the first day I was allowed out after resting in bed.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 24/01/2010 21:07

ouch, i can see how it would happen while you were still woozy though!

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 24/01/2010 21:18

oops

jetcatisfrozen · 25/01/2010 07:33

hi, i did end up at a&e, just before midnight i was sick again, so figured that was the best place for me.

Luckily i managed to wake my neighbour, who despite not knowing me that well, agreed wait up for me in case my kids needed her - they are 3 and 12 and were fast asleep in bed. The benefits of having paper thin walls, she could hear straight away if either one of them woke up, which luckily they didnt.

I am bloomin shattered now, so getting little one ready for nursery then trying to get some sleep. Today is supposed to be the first day of home educating my oldest

Thanks for your kind words and advice last night and fab and fanjo - ouch!

So much easier if you had gone sooner but I am glad you are okay. You really must rest as much as you can today.

Flightattendant · 25/01/2010 09:15

oh you poor thing, what a nightmare...how are you feeling apart from shattered, did they do anything?

Hope all is fine xx

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 25/01/2010 12:22

Glad your neighbour was so great, and that you are home and OK.

I agree with Fab, take it as easy as you can or you will feel rough for longer!!

FabIsGoingToBeFabIn2010 · 25/01/2010 20:19

Mine was in November and tonight I came over all unwell. Had a head ache earlier and felt pain as still bruised inside. Then I felt very cold and sick. Just resting now.

Definitely rest and rest again.

I have just read it can take 6 months to feel better and mood swings and memory loss can be the result.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 25/01/2010 21:01

Fab - that is awful.

But hang on in there, there is hope, I feel much better than I did a year ago.

FabIsGoingToBeFabIn2010 · 26/01/2010 16:39

I still feel crap tonight. Spent the morning at the hospital. Want my bed.
