Chicken Pox - Twice???

Is this possible.

Ds1 has been a bit under the weather for a few weeks. His teacher told me she thinks he may have chicken pox but I dismissed thinking he'd already had it. Lo and behold, I find a few zit type spots around his lower torso this evening.

Is it possible/common to have them twice and if not what else could it be and could he have problems with his immune system?

He seems great now btw. Full of energy and recovered from general tiredness etc. Pretty sure the rash doesn't look menengitis-like.

Thanks.

Yes, it can be caught twice, especially if it was really mild the first time.

I hope he recovers soon

I've had CP twice, once as a child and then, again, when I was about 20.

But, it could be that he is just feeling under the weather. My DS sometimes gets a few spots when he has a cold.

I have no problems with my immune system btw!

Yup, DS1 got it really mildly one year - just a couple of spots on his shoulder - and then got it all over the following year.

Hope your LO is over it soon - glad he's feeling OK now!

That's what I thought but had a look on some medical websites and they say it's pretty rare.
I was worrried that it may be a sign something wlse is wrong. Is it perhaps more common than they are suggesting?
