10lbs is pretty good going - all the sensible people advise about 2lb/week after the first couple of weeks

traumaqueen · 23/01/2010 17:48

whoops not sure what breastfeeding would do to this though

Wastwinsetandpearls · 23/01/2010 17:48

Yes it is very good and sustainable.

cocolepew · 23/01/2010 17:49

10lbs is loads

giddykipper · 23/01/2010 17:50

too.

knicknack · 23/01/2010 17:51

I only mentioned breastfeeding because i'd be eating allot less if it wasn't for that

10lb is, like, 2/3 of a stone!

How much are you trying to lose?

knicknack · 23/01/2010 17:53

Are you sure? I lost 5lbs in 1st week so am i doing it wrong to have only lost another 5lbs in the following 2 weeks?

You don't want to lose more than 2lbs a week ideally as after those 2lbs, it's not fat you're losing, it's water and lean tissue etc. Would all go back on when you stopped dieting.

You shouldn't be starving though. If you're eating enough and healthily and getting in some regular exercise there's no need to be excessively hungry.

Mousey84 · 23/01/2010 17:54

May be a little too fast. As trauma says, 2lb a week is recommended. However, I found that weight i put on after the mad bingeing over xmas fell off really fast afterwards and I returned to normal weight by 7th jan (losing 7lbs since 28th dec), just because I went back to normal diet. Rest of the weight I need to shift wont be that easy.

Eat healthy food and get exercise - run up and down stairs a few times if you cant get out for a walk/swim/gym. A handful of chips is ok, as long as you ate other stuff too! Starving yourself wont work long term.

knicknack · 23/01/2010 17:54

I am trying to loose 4 stone thought it was about 3 and then............. i stepped on the scales.

No - it's very good. You shouldn't expect to lose more than 1-2lbs per week if you're dieting sensibly.

And as you're breastfeeding, it's probably as much as you should be looking to lose anyway.

Well done!

ShowOfHands · 23/01/2010 17:56

You often lost more at first and then it should settle down to a couple of pounds a week.

If you do it sensibly and gradually by adapting your lifestyle and eating habits, it has more chance of staying off. If you starve yourself it'll just go back on again when you start eating again. If you're being too restrictive you'll just end up craving food all the time. Food is not a battle ground and a handful of crisps isn't a sin.

ShowOfHands · 23/01/2010 17:57

typo, chips.

I'm eating crisps!

knicknack · 23/01/2010 17:59

No i ate more than a handful of chips! i had a small jacket with some tuna mixed with a little olive oil which was very yummy I think i'm just worried because it's the first ever time i've stuck to a diet and started to loose wieght so am expecting it to happen so fast.

Shameless ploy for attention there knicknack.
I have 5 stone to lose and if I lost 10lb in 3 weeks I'd be like this

Only I haven't, so .

Stop showing off

Georgimama · 23/01/2010 18:22

I've lost 9 pounds in three weeks and I was bloody pleased! I confidently expect it to slow to around 0.5 to 1 pound per week from now on, but that's just fine, at that rate I will be at goal by the end of the year (I want to lose another 40 pounds [cripes]) and that's good enough for me - God knows it took more than a year to get this fat.

ShowOfHands · 23/01/2010 18:29

Georgimama, I've lost 35lbs in 12 months. I put it on in 9 months though (pregnancy). Slow, steady, lots of exercise, no dieting, just healthy eating. That's a brill start and a realistic goal.

knicknack · 23/01/2010 19:11

essenceofjack - well im now with myself im such a silly twt, you lot made me feel so good about it i have now had a god dmn f**ing magnum. ARGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH! whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?

careergirl · 23/01/2010 19:17

since January 1st I've lost 7lbs just by avoiding rubbish really and sticking to three meals a day. Lost a lot over first two weeks now it has settled into a more "normal" pattern of about 2lb a week. So reckon what youve lost is about right really

EssenceOfJack · 23/01/2010 21:04

mwwwaaaaahahahahahaha

Seriously though, that's a really good reward for losing that weight, why not have a sweet treat. It won't put 10lbs back on you so fuck it!

knicknack · 23/01/2010 21:46

ok i have re wieghed myself and only gained 1/2 lb but i am presuming that would be from jacket potatoe and tuna and pints of water too! am happy again now oh and just randomly i really should start another thread with this but matalan stores have a MASSIVE sale on atm to stock up on skinny clothes! i got a coat, 2 bras, 2 tops and 2 dresses yesterday for £26.25! If the sale had not been on they would have cost....................... £86! am very happy with matalan

OP posts:
knicknack · 23/01/2010 21:48
