Mirena coil (Again, sorry) and bleeding

I had one put in almost 2 years ago. I just wonder if it is normal to bleed for as long as I do. sorry if TMI but I bleed very very lightly but for maybe 2 weeks at a low level at a time. Then a month later more heavily, then a couple of weeks later jusst v.v.v. slightly. Also increasingly bad spots and fluid retention which I never had, even as a teen. Thinking of getting it removed and DH going for the snip. My periods would be heavier, but at least predictable and not lasting forever. Is this common do you think with the mirena?

I had my first mirena coil for 5 years and it seemed great - after 6 months of strange and protracted bleeding, things settled down and I didn't have a period at all for 4 years.

However, when I had it replaced the second coil gave me nothing but problems. Heavy bleeding lasting up to two weeks with only a couple of weeks in between. Also acne type spots, weight gain and mood swings. So had it removed after 18 months and can honestly say it has changed my life....more energy, so much less stressed, feel better than I have in years. Realised that for the last 6 years I hadn't been myself at all.Have heard similar horror stories from other users. Managed to get one of the last diaphragms on the planet and used that for a while but then lovely partner offered to have the snip and he is recovering as I write!

thankyou. I am fed up with being spotty and bloated and I'm trying to shift the last couple of pouinds of weight, wich I know is difficult but not as difficult as this seems. I haven't felt myself for some time - maybe it is the mirena?

I never stopped bleeding on the Mirena. Had it in 10 months and had maybe a fortnight without any spotting and/or full on period-type bleeding.

And dire acne.

Horrid mood swings from hell, my post-natal depression got even worse.

And zero sex drive.

Fecking nightmare!

I had mine in 7 months ago, aand was bleeding/spotting most days. I saw my GP who has prescribed a low dose progesterone pill which, touch wood seems to have sorted it.
