hi

i have tried to search for an old thread on this subject but i can't find one but hopefully i am not the only person this is happening to!

i'm 35 weeks pregnant and have just developed haemorrhoids. it is so painful! i did get them around the same time with DS but not having a little one to chase round after, they didn't seem so bad! this time i am seriously getting fed up - i'm just so uncomfortable.

can anyone recommend anything? i realise they will probably/hopefully go once the baby's been born but i can't put up with this for another 5-7 weeks!

Help!

Thanks

Not sure what to advise apart from keeping stools soft by chewing food lots and lots and eating fruit and veg. Plus lots of water.

Hope someone comes on with advice soon they must be awful

This may be TMI but try pooing in some warm water - fill a potty or the bath. It does help relieve the pain. Just not very pleasant to clean after/

:-) thanks, its not actually the bowel movements that cause me a particular issue as i haven't suffered from becoming 'clogged up' at all.

its just plain old sitting/standing/walking where they are so painful ALL THE TIME.

your suggestions are good ones though to hopefully stop them getting worse and i think i need a trip down the pharmacy!

there must be something out there to numb-my-bum!

had them terrible in my 3rd pregnancy, i used anusol suppositories which were amazing, along with a cream called uniroid from the gp.
I still had them bad after the birth but they seem to be much better now 7 wks on

aha! anusol..i will try that then! thanks!

pleased that you are getting some relief now though! thanks for your suggestion!

they really are great, was good relief from the agony!

just had a quick look online - they do some normal ones and some 'plus' ones but the plus ones say not recommended for pregnancy.. do you remember if using just the normal ones worked or did you upgrade to the 'plus' ones?

thanks!

Hope the Anusol gives you some relief Wethree.

Just a word of warning that it made me itch unbearably, think I must be sensitive to one of the ingredients. Hopefully it won't do the same to you, but thought you should be warned.

I think you can get anaesthetic gels too if needed.

Good luck

aha. that's worth bearing in mind before i cover myself in the stuff! i will tread carefully. thanks, Montifer!
