first period after emcs or something else?

hi,

I had an emcs 8 weeks ago and at the time was told that I had lost a bit more blood than usual, 1 litre, and it took an hour to sew me up so I had iv antibiotics and anti-clotting tablets in hospital.

I had lochia for about 4-5 weeks...

Last tuesday I had what I assumed was the first period, even though I am Bf... It is still here and has actually gotten heavier with some clots... Is this my period do you think or could I have been doing too much perhaps and damaged my insides?

Advice welcomed!

I think it would probably be your period..i remember after DD1 (also section but planned) my period was heavier and lots of clots the first time too. It was a bit lighter after that first period though. I would have a chat with your GP about it though just to make sure.

Could i just ask, you said you had lochia for 4-5 weeks, how long was it bright red? Just wondering because i had a section 3 weeks ago and mine is still red..apparently it should be darker now [worried emoticon]

Congrats on your new baby by the way!

thanks, mine was bright red for pretty much the whole time, it only went darker for the last 4-7 days....

I'm still bleeding heavily, leaking through the tampon onto a pad within 2-3 hours... Will see doctor if doesn't stop in few days...

Congratulations on your new baby too!

Thanks issysmilkbottle.

Gosh it does sound pretty heavy. But i do remember having the same after DD1. All you can do is keep an eye on it i guess. Do you feel ok? Not light headed or anything? Hope it eases up soon!

yeah I feel ok, well as ok as you can on limited sleep!
