Mumps? Can my Ex see dd?

Hello

My exP has been down South for a long weekend and phoned me last night to say he 'might' have mumps.

Now dd is 15 months and has had the MMR so I think she will be fine but he is paranoid as he said he has been vaccinated and he got it.

So situtaion is this, I am taking her on holiday on Saturday, her dad (ExP) is supposed to have her on Thursday and Friday night. If he doesn't he won't get to see her for over 3 weeks and (V selfishly I know) I won't have any toddlerless time for the same amount of time!!

I don't think he is VERY ill and I am sure he is perfectly capable of taking care of her and really wants to see her. Obviously I don't want her to get mumps! Should she be fine??

Weesaidie - I'm sure she willbe fine. How did your ExP get vaccinated??? It certainly wasn't part of a UK wide vaccination scheme until 1988 (I think!!) when they started vaccinated all toddlers.... before that in Scotland it was just girls who were given the Rubella at the age of 10/11.

He says definitely but I am not so sure! I don't think I was vaccinated until school. It is 1988 it started out which is why I am unsure.

Still she has been vaccinated so I would have thought it is fine. After all if we were still together would he move out for a week or 2 'just in case'?? I doubt it!

If he has got mumps, he will know by Thursday and you can decide then.

I had it when I was 28 and it lasted 2 weeks and was very unpleasant.

But if he has got mumps, I'd keep her away from him - you don't really want her to go down with it while she's on holiday with you do you? The vaccinations don't always work and it would just be the wrong time for her to get it.

I will wait and see. Also will talk to my mum who used to be a health visitor!

He isn't sure if it is mumps yet and he has tosee if the antibiotics help....
