I think this is our 39th thread and we are still going strong. Our leader Shiney is well what can I say.. just bloody fab.

We do like a lot of cock and cake chat with lots of healthy stuff thrown in too.

Morning

I have a hangover today, which was not improved by DS coming into our room at 3.15 and then spending the rest of the night telling me to give him more room

Thanks Hells for all the SB suggestions! I am getting rather excited about starting, especially since you have done so well on it.

Nothing for breakfast, and will have a feta salad for lunch.

Loving the dating stories we need more

FiveGoMadInDorset · 19/01/2010 08:49

Hi Bella - what would you like to know?

WhereChaosTheoryRules · 19/01/2010 08:50

morning. I have another rare day off, feel a bit crap but have tons i want to do. so you will probably see me around lots whilst i try not to do it.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 19/01/2010 08:59

OK just found your message.

The pork belly was very easy. We got a 3kg piece of belly pork which fed 7 adults and 2 small DC's and a small amount of seconds. pork belly recipe, was fantastic very crunchy crackling and the meat was very tender.

We had with it apple and butterbean mash - melt 25g of butter in a large saucepan, add 2 cloves of garlic chopped and 2 medium cooking apples chopped, cook until apples are soft, add 3 tins of butterbeans which have been drained and 200ml of double cream, warm through, season and then mash/blitz to whatever consistency you want.

Cabbage and bacon - boil some savoy cabbage, in another frying pan fry of some pancetta cubes or bacon cubes, drain cabbage and then fry for a bit in the bacon.

We also had mashed potato, carrots and peas.

NormaSknockers · 19/01/2010 09:03

Hello all - sorry not been on, DH has a few days off so we've been getting some boring but needed jobs done & taking the DC out (I seem to have reached that time in my life when I love nothing more then a lovely long walk along the seafront!) another packed today but DH back to work tomorrow so can sit MN all day get back to normal tomorrow

Diet has gone seriously downhill but I'm not in a very good place at the mo as got somthing playing on my mind so have turned to food (as always) for comfort

NormaSknockers · 19/01/2010 09:05

Have been trying to pop in & out though & lurk when I get the spare 5 mins to sit on my arse (Sorry DS kindly hit the enter key for me before I'd finished typing!)

bellavita · 19/01/2010 09:26

Thanks Fanny - a great help

bellavita · 19/01/2010 09:29

Posted too soon Fanny - right, I see you have got 3kg piece and recipe is for 2kg - how much longer did you cook it for? and when you carved it, did you do a thick piece with crackling on top, or take the crackling off and slice the pork into thinner pieces?

Morning

Well done Bella!

Laptop is being very slow and is like 3 or 4 words behind my typing, and i am very slow at typing.

DD is being a pain today and keeps pulling my hair. Need to go out i think! Have a good day

FiveGoMadInDorset · 19/01/2010 09:38

I cooked it for exactly the same amount of time, kept crackling on and calved in big peices, the meat was so tender that you didn't need a knife.

VinegarTits · 19/01/2010 09:44

Morning, i feel like crap, people keep looking at me like this and saying 'are you ill again?' and suggesting i eat healthy/take vitamins

I do eat a healthy diet and I eat fresh fruit every day, I shouldnt need to take extra vitamins should i?

I just think its lack of sleep and the fact that i am doing everything alone, but i cant change that, its just tough shit

Can stress cause you to keep getting ill?

hellsbelles · 19/01/2010 09:45

morning all - I am totally confused by last nights conversation?! I am far too thick to keep up.

Bella - I will shake pom poms at you (as you obviously can't shake them at yourself!)....WELL DONE

Tracey - will you please stop linking to that bloody Viv dress. I love it but am trying to be good and not spend

BOF - poor cherry - I think she was trying to do a helpful thing there and it's all gone wrong.

Wasting - I'm taping Glee - can't wait to watch it.

Dreams - Don't be naughty - you must must must have breakfast and the snacks. The diet won't work otherwise (you'll just get too hungry and end up cheating). He is very insistent about it in the book. Go get thee some cheese or something like that right now young lady.

Shiney - I love your adventures. they always make me smile.

Vinny love - I don't think you will ever live down the name thread will you

FiveGoMadInDorset · 19/01/2010 09:45

VT - you shouldn't need to have extra vitamins whenyou eat fresh fruit, but stress can lead to illness.

VinegarTits · 19/01/2010 09:46

Well done on the wieght loss Bella, 3.5lbs is fabbo, thats like 7 packs of butter!

Poledra · 19/01/2010 09:48

VT, yes stress can make you keep on getting ill. Chronic long-term stress suppresses your immune system (although acute stress can actually boost your immune system, interestingly). I would consider taking some extra vitamins if I were you - I eat a pretty healthy diet but find that sometimes my body seems to need a bit extra help so popo supplements for a few weeks. Hope you feel better soon.

Poledra · 19/01/2010 09:49

popo? popo? What the hell am I talking about? Should be pop, obviously.

VinegarTits · 19/01/2010 09:54

Vitamins cost a fortune and are just a con for seven seas and the like to make money imo

I would rather buy more fresh fruit than pay the stupid prices they charge you for vitamins

WhereChaosTheoryRules · 19/01/2010 09:56

For healthypeople i would agree vinny but having suffered post viral syndrome 3 times in my life, now is when you are at risk of it and a months boost combined with trying to catch up on the sleep will prevent this from happening. you dont want to get signed off work with post viral tis very nasty and bosses look at you.

Lizzylou · 19/01/2010 10:04

Vin, places like Holland and Barrett, Boots and Tescos have offers on vitamins all the time, it needn't cost a lot.
You do need them, you are running yourself ragged and your body is telling you to slow down by being ill. Unless you can spend a week in bed to recover (by yourself, you filthy vixen!), then you need some vitamins Lady!

Right, pep talk over, off to do some work

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 19/01/2010 10:05

Morning all - will catch up in a mo, god you lot can chat....hehe

BoF (and anyone else local) - I'm going to be in Manchester from Jan 30th for 4 days, we really need to get together!

I'm just trying to stay awake, matches in eyelids kind of day.

YanknCock · 19/01/2010 10:06

VT, yep, stress can make you more run down and more susceptible to whatever's going around. Do you also work in an open plan office? I have not been ill for a year now (cold/flu wise) and I'm sure it's down to being at home with DS. Normally in that time period I'd have a cold at least every other month. Best thing I can suggest is--wash your hands A LOT. This is not to suggest that you personally have poor hygiene, just that loads of other people do! My first day in public health training we learned that a stupid amount of communicable diseases could be prevented if everyone would wash their hands properly. Sing the alphabet twice while doing it.

bella, well done.

I am congratulating myself this morning for NOT having a sausage roll. I was pushing the pram towards Greggs because I'd gone out without breakfast, then swerved away at the last minute. Went home and had usual peanut butter on toast instead.

Also saw two things that made me while at the shopping centre. First was a very shabby van with a window sign that said 'I'm too sexy for my van'. Men inside were most definitely not TOO sexy for that particular van. In fact, the van should have been insulted. Then while driving away I passed a cement mixer with 'PURE PUSSY' in huge letters across the top front. I don't even know what to say about that one!

bellavita · 19/01/2010 10:08

Thank you again Fanny - am going to copy & paste your post into word and then I have it safe.

OP posts:
VinegarTits · 19/01/2010 10:09

I have never heard of post viral syndrome, but psml at me being a filthy vixen (i wish)

I am no good with pills, i take them for a day then forget to take them again

WhereChaosTheoryRules · 19/01/2010 10:10
