I have the worst kind of piles you can have: type 4 internal ones. They hang out all the time and can't be pushed back in. My GP has said since they haven't responded to the ointment and pessary he gave me, I will have to have them removed somehow. He seemed to think banding might be the best option.
I am, unsurprisingly, not looking forward to this op. I would like to know how painful it takes, how long it takes to recover and anything else relevant. I have three kids and am registered for various running and swimming events this year, so I don't want to miss out on my training for too long.
I am also pissed off because doctors always seem to assume piles are down to constipation, yet I eat a pretty high fibre diet (just ask anyone in my family) and do a fair amount of exercise.
