How do i make the world stop spinning?

The last 2 days i have felt so dizzy all the time te best way to describe it is - you know when your drunk and you sit down and the world is spinning one way and your head the other......... well its constantly like that. anyone had this?

Sounds like Vertigo or another middle ear thing (I think it's middle ear)

Do you feel sick?

Yes I've had it twice. See a GP or phamacist tomorrow but they will most likey prescribe you sea sickness tablets. They work a treat. If you can get soem before tomorrow take them now, it won't harm you if it's not vertigo but if it is it'll really help.

If you close your eyes, does the world flip? If so, it may be labyrinthitis. I get it after head colds. It's an inflammation of the inner ear. It doesn't come with a lot of nausea, but it does make you confused.

From what I know, moving your head about quickly makes it worse, as does caffeine.

And unless you've got a really severe case (which means puking and unable to get out of bed), the meds specifically for this are too nasty to bother with.

(I think sea sickness tablets work against nausea? Which you don't have ...)

My attacks generally only last a few hours, so I just sit it out. It certainly sounds like an inner/middle ear problem ... talk to your GP tomorrow?

yeah i suppose i will have to go to the g.p i always seem to be there so i try to avoid going if possible

When I had vertigo I never felt sick with it, just bloody dizzy! The sea sickness tablets helped a lot.

wouldnt it hurt if it was an ear infection? and if it is do i have to go to the g.p or will it clear up its self?

No, vertigo is dizziness, I think.

Labyrinthitis doesn't hurt at all. You don't have to go to the GP. How bad is it? Can you cope? Are you sleeping ok?

You can probably wait another day or two. I'd just worry it was something more complex. My attacks never last more than half a day, but I'm sure longer attacks are normal.

It's not the same as the ear infections kids get. I think it's actually an inflammation of the tubes that tell you which way is up. They get confused, and keep saying, "oh, up is over there! no, it's over there!", which makes you dizzy.

I've never had any treatment for mine.

But it could be something nastier. I'd certainly get it checked if it carries on for more than a few days.

I'd go to quacks, as had a mate hospitalized with this last year, just before she got pregnant actually! she was in for weeks, don't want to worry you, but she ended up with an op, to sort it out....

Found a good webpage here . Have you, or has anyone in your family, had a viral infection lately? (Stupid question, you have kids, right? Everyone's always got a bug or two.) It's likely to be viral labyrinthitis, in which case, it will go away on its own.

But if it persists, or gets worse, you really should go see the GP, just to eliminate anything more serious.

Are you having any problems with your hearing?

ok ok i will go to g.p tomorrow and get it checked - no viral infections i know of but DSF had this inner ear thing about 2 weeks ago.

fishfinger seems to know what she's on about on the labyrynthitis (sp) thingy. Also spacecadet can help you on that one if she's about.

I've had vertigo when I was pregnant - I was ok if I sat very very still, but as soon as I moved my head the world was spinning and it feels AWFUL. It lasted about 4 days then was completely gone and I never had it again.

If you still feel like it tomorrow, get it checked out if only so you know what it is and of course, have antib's if necessary.

I've had labrynthitis too. It's awful. I got tablets to stop feeling sick and dizzy and to prevent it too. But gp. said it was viral and it would have to go by itself so didn't get antibiotics. It went eventually, but comes back now and then. Funnily enough when I'm lying in bed if I turn quickly to the left a wave of dizziness always hits me and I have to lie still till it goes away. Turning right makes no difference. Wierd!! My gp said labrynthitis was quite common, but I'd never heard of it till I got it.

Hi, I'm the same as ssd. I had the viral version once really badly and was stuck in bed for 10 days because I fell over every time I tried to walk! I was really sick too. Travel sickness pills helped bit.

I still get occasional dizzy spells when turning my head too quickly.

i couldnt get an appointment today but i have one for tomorrow think its deffo what you saud as everytime i turn my head the dizzyness gets worse but am going to g.p's tmorrow to get checked
