Mirena ... again

Hi all,

I'm new here and have been trawling through the forums reading all the horror stories and the "don't worry it'll get better" comments.

I had a Mirena fitted on 16th December and I haven't had a good day since ... heavy bleeding, cramps, bloating and nausea, I've put on nearly a stone (but I've hardly eaten - at best I've eaten half as much as normal) and my breasts are sooo tender. It was fitted to help with stupidly heavy periods - but I've only had one day without bleeding, and I'm just getting over 3 days of flooding - so it's all miles worse than before as I now have nausea/bloating/cramps to deal with.

Other than just whinging I do have a question ... is it ok to use tampax or should I have just been using pads?? I don't remember my doctor saying anything to me when it was fitted - but I just read that someone was told not to use tampons for 6 weeks?!

I'm so fed up with this

I think tampons are fine, especially now after a few weeks.

I also bled for the 1st month and on and off for 3 months and came on MN asking if i should have it taken out etc.

My advice would be stick with it and "put up with it", (don't mean that nastily). By mid-feb it all should be settling down. I never thought mine would but now, after 3 years I don't have NO periods like some women, just spotting but thats fine with me.

Honestly, it really does feel like a crap decision at first, but the benefits are great in the end.

Although i can't comment on the weight gain as that didn't happen with me.

I hope you feel better soon. x
