The use of condoms??

Can I ask if anyone uses condoms as their normal contraception. If so have you used them for a long time and do you have many/any accidents. I suppose (concerns from another thread) I am interested to know if others use as their long term contraception and feel happy with this.

We do.

Never had any accidents in nearly 10 yrs. I am pg atm, but that was intentional!

I think they are fab.

Thanks NTW - that's a long time which is reassuring. Is there any reason why you chose this method. Sorry if being nosey so ignore if you feel I am.
Congratulations by the way...

No problem.
We chose it as it was effective and meant I didn't have to take the pill which I wasn't keen on for a number of reasons. Also elliminates mess, which is a happy side-effect!

Flower- have you thought about an IUD or Mirena?

potoroo · 11/01/2010 11:46

We've used them for about 6-7 years - no accidents (and I got pregnant straight away when we tried both times).

Didn't like the pill (was on it for 10 years on and off before that), and won't use a coil so this is the best solution for us.

Does eliminate mess too ;)

PP yes have thought about it but my sister had so many problems with hers that it has kind of put me off. She was in a lot of pain, bleeding etc and the thought makes me feel faint - sorry bit of a woose (sp??) I know. Thanks Potoroo, may be more people use than I thought.XX

i do, no accidents, i used them inbetween dd and ds (about 18 months) then have been using them since ds was born nearly 5 years ago, i conceived dd while taking the pill and tried to go back on the pill last year but it turned me into a monster.

nickelbabe · 11/01/2010 12:23

we do, happy so far (only been having sex for about 6months)
but then, our long term plan is to get married and have children, so if an accident happens, i can't see it being a big issue for us.
maybe.
errrmmm....

didn't want to go back on the pill when we got together because i was worried about my ticking time clock and how long it might take my body to get back to normal when we start TTC.
