Having a colposcopy tomorrow.

I've had them before but really nervous this time, I had one about a year and half ago and had a biopsy.
Was suppose to have follow up after three months but fell pregnant with dt's.

I then had to wait till they were 6 months old to have my next smear. Had one just before christmas which showed a borderline result so have to have another colposcopy in the morning.

I had a cone biopsy when I was 23 under general, and have had yearly smears since.

I know I shouldn't worry and it will be fine, but there is apart of me that is in a panic.

good luck tomorrow .. fingers crossed that all will be fine. I know where you are coming from .. I have been having biopsies and colposcopies every 6 months for about 3 years now and I get nervous every time. The waiting for results is hard isn't it?

LargeGlassofRed · 10/01/2010 20:48

Thanks bodiddly, yes the waiting is a killer, usually takes 4 to 5 weeks to get biopsy results.

I had a set of results through on Friday ... although they didn't make sense at all!

LargeGlassofRed · 10/01/2010 20:59

oh no, are they going to see you to go through them?

Good luck. I've had two colposcopies and biopsies before having children. Not much fun are they!

Try not to get into too much of a panic waiting for the results, but I know that is easier said then done.

You have reminded me to book a smear though, its long, long overdue.

bodiddly · 10/01/2010 21:02

I think it was just that they sent out a standard abnormal smear letter rather than an individual letter with the results as it is telling me I have changes etc and need to book a colposcopy!

I find taking some pain killers half an hour before the appointment helps me chill out slightly and takes the edge off.

LargeGlassofRed · 10/01/2010 21:16

bodiddly, I think the hospitals are quick to use those standard letters, sometimes making it more confusing!
Maybe give the clinic a call and ask to chat about results?

havoc, glad its jogged your memory, really east to forget them if you don't get the reminders

it doesn't fill you with confidence though does it!

Anyway, good luck tomorrow .. wishing you all the best!

LargeGlassof Red - I hope it goes/ has gone ok for you today.

Now try to put it to the back of your mind until you get the results.

LargeGlassofRed · 11/01/2010 20:26

thanks havoc and bodiddly, all went fine today, she couldn't see any problems and said I may have had an abnormal result due to still b'feeding dt's.
So just have to have another smear in 3 months phew

Hope things go ok with you bodiddly.
