Thimerosal in swine flu vac-how much is there exactly ?

I'd love to hear from anybody who has a good understanding of this-I am not a scientist!

My question is-does any body know the exact amount in the pandemrix jab and what proportion it makes up of the recommended safe levels are for children to receive overall? Also-I understand that the body excretes ethylmercury-how does this work and how much is stored permamently in the body? Sorry-may have got facts confused here.

Also-I am correct in believing that thimerosal has been removed from all other childhood immunisations since 2002?

I appreciate that some people may regard it as unsafe in any amount and that there are all sorts of other nasties in the jabs my kids have already had ( be economical with detail please!) but I'd welcome a scientific explanantion to help me decide whether or not to give DD the SF jab.

Thanks very much

No offence intended Sooty, but in that case I'm more than happy with my decision. I don't really subscribe to the paranoia surrounding vaccines, the government and the medical profession. I prefer to think of vaccines as all but wiping out many deadly illnesses and saving millions of lives. I think as a society we're becoming way too complacent about that.

Sorry-didn't manage to get to a computer yesterday.

Thanks for all the info and links everybody. It's been very useful and interesting to read your discussion gaelicsheep and sooty.

I do apologise if this thread has caused anybody extra worry. I'm finding the decision completely impossible myself-it feels completely no-win to me but I expect my final decision will be to have DD vaccinated........I think! (She's had all her other jabs BTW)

Bit of an update. After doing all that research I felt reassured & went ahead & got SF jab for DS3 (23 months). He had no side effects. He only had a halfdose because of his age -- so all the numbers I worked out about thiomerosol dose need to be halved. From what I've read, all children under 10yo get a half dose.

I feel quite confident about my choice to get SF jab, now!
Just thought it might be helpful info to someone else.

Sooty, I found this discussion because I was doing a Google search on injected vs ingested. You raised some very good questions. I am actually working on a small pamphlet which would bypass the usual "it's safe for babies, but we can't test it on them" and would bypass the "pregnant women should get this jab but obviously we can't test it on them" malarkey. Is there some way that we could have a conversation which is not quite so exposed (and permanent) as this seems to be? I don't know if you even read follow-ups to old conversations, but if you do, perhaps you have some suggestions about how to do that? Thanks.
