If I had my own way I would sleep all day. Im just soooo tired all the time and dont seem to have the energy to do much at all. I keep going through really bad phases where im just zonked all the time.

I dont really feel I can go to the dr and say "hi i know your very busy but im knackerd all the time... whats wrong with me"
It has happened in the past and all i get is a blood test and soem iron which just leaves me constipated.
I dont hve a particualy bed diet and eat pleanty of fresh veg.

Its making me find things quite difficult to cope with at the mo. I hve a 2 1/2 yr old and a 18 month old so i need to have energy to keep up with them. Im also trying to finish my degree and dont have time to feel exhausted. I need to get it finished. I dont think its depression. Although i have struggled with that in the past I feel ok in that sense.

I did have glandular fever a few years ago and thats the only thing I can link it to.

have you had your thyroid function checked?

spookycharlotte121 · 07/01/2010 19:10

Im not sure. i have had blood tests done in the past but im not sure what they have been for. I know they included Liver funtion tests because my glandular fever caused complications with those.

I know the feeling well!
I have been taking Floradix every mornig for the past 3 months and its helped alot. Its a liquid iron tonic from the health food shop. I take it with a vit c tablet to help absorbtion.

spookycharlotte121 · 07/01/2010 19:15

oh right.... does it give you constipation? if not i might try and take a look at some once the snow has cleared.

Its just so annoying feeling like this. It will go on for a month or 2 then i will be fine but I dont think i can carry on for weeks nd weeks feeling this exhausted all the time.

Ask for the full battery of standard GP tests.

Ask for a referal - when I was recovering from GF, I was refered to the endocrinology dept. for me thorough tests. Turned out to be fine, but good to get checked.

You have a lot on your plate with two toddlers and a degree. COuld you enlist/afford help?

Don't bother with supplements. They are a waste of money which would be better spent on extra fruit and veg.

How are you with exercise? Can you maange a wee walk and build up? Or does excercise make you feel worse?

spookycharlotte121 · 07/01/2010 19:24

I can manage exercise and always feel better for it. i do it with a personal trainer once a week and try and do little bits on my own throughout the week.
what is an endocrinology dept?

I do have a fair ammount on my plaate but i should be able to cope. At the moment I probably would be in a position to get extra help but im not sure where i would go for that.

I just spend my whole day feeling exhausted. I struggle to keep my eyes open aat times and end up falling asleep on the sofa or napping when the kids nap. none fo which is practicle.

spooky - I wouldn't manage 2 wee ones adn a degree! In all honesty, I sometimes struggle with one.

Endocrinology - hormones. COvers thyroid, diabetics, all sorts of stuff.

Maybe a bit of extra childcare to allow y0ou to have a rest or to have another seeion at the gym/run/whatever?

spookycharlotte121 · 07/01/2010 19:44

i feel a bit stupid now.... got a bit upset because the kids were driving me mad so rang my mum crying. She was being nice and going through everything it could be (she is a nurse) then she asked me how much I have drunk today and I havent had anything to drink.... i cant even remember if I drank anything yesterday either.

GOd its no wonder im feeling so rubbish. I just forget! I know it sounds rediculous but I do. Im constantly getting the kids drinks but never mysef. sorry if i have wasted your time. God knows what im doing to my body.

Aw, spooky, don't be sorry.

It is rotten feeling run down and tired for prolonged periods.

Yes, your mum is sight - being parched will make you feel shite!

DO ask for more tests if it carries on though. I do think your life sounds very full and tiring. Maybe you need a bit more rest for a wee while to get your energy back.

spookycharlotte121 · 07/01/2010 20:01

I am very tired in general atm. Kids arent sleeping too well atm.I think Im going to brave the roads and take them to nursery tomorrow and have myself a duvet day. I doubt uni will be open.

Thanks for taking the time to listen and talk to me. I really appreciate it. Im going to go and get myself a very large glass of water. and make an attempt at putting the kids to bed.
