Weird period while on Microgynon

Hi, I'm looking for some advice...

I have been on Microgynon on and off (all the time except for when TTC, PG or BF) for the last 12 years, so thought I knew what to expect each month.

However, last month AF was a day later starting (normally Thursday pm but this was Friday pm) and then this month it was even later starting, on the Saturday am.

Also, it has been very weird - I would say it has been lighter than usual, but also where there has been a "gush" (TMI, sorry) it hasn't quite made it to the pad - it seems to have got stuck and only "released" when I go to the loo and wipe (sorry, again, TMI!) This leads me to assume that it a different consistency to usual as well. It also seemed to be a different colour, more pink than it usually is.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on, as I don't want to waste a doctor's time but it is confusing me a bit!

Hi easylife.
Sorry I haven't got any advice but I am also on microgynon and something very similar has been happening to me for the last 3-4 months. Af has also gone from lasting 6-7 days to only 2-3 days and very painful.
I am overdue my smear test (was due in October but had to cancel due to illness then got snowed under with uni work) so will make an appointment for next week.
Will watch this thread and hope someone comes with some answers.

I was on Microgynon and had the same issue with my period being late by 2-3 days. The first time this happened was over a year ago and it continued to happen every 2-3 months. Strangely, my friend, who is also on the same pill, had the same thing happen to her! I mentioned to the nurse when I had my smear in April and she said not too worry, so I didn't! I also found that my period was a lot lighter and seemed to be thicker, less liquid, if that makes sense? Sorry for the TMI...

Not much help or guidance but maybe it helps knowing you're not alone?

I stopped taking the pill at the end of November and I am still waiting patiently for my first natural period....

Thanks Icanonlytry & BistoBewar - it does help knowing I'm not the only one! Just thought I knew what I was dealing with after 12 years, but obviously not!

I had missed a pill mid-pack back in October, but spoke to nurse at FPC the following week who said it was fine if it was mid-pack - also took a PG test just to be sure before eating & drinking loads over Christmas! That was negative, but had started to worry after this weird period. It's nice to know that it appears to be "normal" for this pill occasionally.

Was also concerened it might be the beginning of menopause (I'm only 36 but my Mum had hers at 41), but hopefully not that either.

I guess I'll wait and see what happens over the next couple of months and mention it next time I'm at the surgery.

Thanks again!
