I'm in a similar situation, have had two lots of AB's for chest infection. Doc. told me if its not clear after that he's sending me for chest x-rays. So that may be the next thing.

blushingm · 04/01/2010 13:42

it horrible isn't it kurri. Can't get comfy and i'm even annoying myself coughing - plus it hurts

what would they hope to see on an xray >

Hi, I hope the doctor was able to help. I do not have much experience of pleurisy but my dad had it once and then a friend did. In both cases it took a while to clear up (the friend was in hopsital for a week or so) so I think the GP needs to go through some sort of timescale with you, so that you know what to expect in terms of progress.

So do ask for a time-scale.

he may add in a salbutamol inhaler because if use in conjunction with the steroids and ABx it helps to cough up the gunge

The doc. said something about fluid not clearing properly from my lungs, but I've got an underlying health issue which plays a part.

How did you get on at the docs today, any progress?
