ok, bit of history on this complaint of mine.

Am age 32 have 2 kids 7 and 4 yrs. I have PCOS and never used to have regular cycles. When I started my periods again when my youngest was about 1 I started to have regular cycles lasting 28-33 days.
I had a copper coil fitted July 2008 and have had no problems with it, regular bleeding continued with no noticable changes.
Skip forward to mid sept 2009 I had a period as expected but continued to bleed until mid december ( except for a few days when I took norethisterone to stop the bleeding so the GP could take swabs.)

Swabs all came back clear, my smear from Jan 2009 was normal, I have had an internal scan which again was normal except for the cystic ovaries which I knew about.

So, stopped bleeding 16th Dec and stayed that way until 30th Dec when I satrted to bleed again and am still bleeding.

There is no pain, no smell, I feel ok otherwise. GP has given me the mini pill to see if this settles things down I have taken 3 pills so far.

Sorry this is so long and also apologies if TMI but I am hoping that someone will have some suggestions and ways in which I can tackle it.

Thanks so much x

Why has the GP not seemingly referred you to a gynae for further evaluation?.

Presumably as well problems with the coil have been ruled out.

This problem certainly warrants a gynae's attention; I would be seeking a referral to such a person asap.

BTW I have PCOS as well and I don't think the recurrent bleeding has anything to do with this.

Hope you get it sorted, the underlying cause needs to be properly ascertained. Treating the symptoms is only part of the problem.

Thanks Atilla.

GP thinks coil is ok, its non hormonal and has always been ok, it is in the right place on scan aswell.

She wants me to try the mini pill to see if it stems the bleeding so I'm giving it a go but seems crazy as irregular bleeding can be one of the side effects!

She hasn't done hormone bloods as she says they will be skewed due to PCO anyway tbh, I'd like to know whether this is the start of premature menopause or something. She did thyroid levels which were normal.

What do think a gynaecologist would do extra to what has been done? I was also wondering about asking to be reffered to colposcopy just to check its not cervical ?
