5wk old with a cold

Hey there all, my 5 week old baby has a cold is there anything I can give her? I've checked her temperature and listened to her chest and both are fine, but she's very snuffly and it's affecting her sleep.

We have saline drops for her nose and have been cleaning it out for her every now and then, I've also propped her up in her bed at night to help but is there any thing else I can do?

Are you breastfeeding? If you are you can use BM as nose drops.

There's not much that you can do really, my LO had a cold for weeks at a similar age and it's not fun, so I'm sending a lot of empathy your way.

Eurgh you feel so useless when they get a cold at that age.

Have you got the suction thing for her nose? Mothercare sell it.

Other than that and what your doing already, there really isn't anything you can give them till they are 3 months.

Make sure she is wrapped up warm at night (swaddled) but with a window open so that she gets fresh air, but so as she's not in a draft.

ask your chemist for saline drops for her nose if you can't use breastmilk - worked a treat for dd2 when she was snuffly at that age

poor you, it's horrid when they are so small

Hey there

Thanks for all your kind messages, I feel better knowing it's not just my baby that has had a cold when so small, thought I was being a bad mum!

Am going to get one of those suction jobbies to try and help. Thanks for the great tips, very useful as always xoxoxox
