i got a stomach bug on xmas eve, throwing up, runs all day. That's all stopped now but the nausea is just horrible and going on and on.

My dad, husband and daughter have also got it.

We live in North West, anyone else had something like this? How long before the nausea went?

Yes, us, we're in North West too. DS1 and DD1 on Wed, DH Thursday, me and DS2 Christmas day. DS1 and DH were better Christmas day but started AGAIN yesterday. I'm just waiting to start again. Anyone else had it, appeared to get better, and then got worse again? What a great Christmas....

we had a mixture of sickness and diahorea for about 4 weeks now in this house. Had stool samples in ds 9 months, but they where negative. both kids also had chicken pox

purepurple · 27/12/2009 08:27

lilymolly, interesting what you say about the bug and chicken pox.
I work in a nursery in the northweat and we have had lots of children with chicken pox that get this bug after they have recovered from the chicken pox.
Most of the staff have had it too, including me. It was horrendous, spent all the weekend in bed. I had bad pains in my stomach for a week afterwards.
justgaveup, a lot of the staff have had the naseau too afterwards. Lasted for a few days.
I got the bug after a child threw up all over me and another one had diarohea in the middle of the floor which I had to clean up.
Luckily, I was ill at the weekend, so didn't lose any pay.
But, every sympathy, it is awful. Hope you are all feeling better soon.

Me too - in the North West. And hubby. Absolutely awful. Lost half a stone and am 24 weeks pregnant.

Just feeling on the mend 10 days later. Three bouts of it in total.

Try acidophilus to rebuild gut flora and gut immune system

purplepeony · 29/12/2009 14:47

is it the norivirus? ( google)

purplepeony · 29/12/2009 14:48

make that norovirus.

LastOfTheMulledWine · 29/12/2009 14:59

Me too. And dh.

Lost half a stone. Thought I was on the mend a couple of times, few mouthfuls into dinner and my stomach would bubble and gurgle and I'd spend the next half an hour in the loo. Horrid. No appetite, terrible waves of nausea, upset stomach. No vomitting though. I'd had a course of antibiotics just before it started as well which stripped my gut of any good flora.

Think it's slowly getting better now.

BlueBumedFly · 29/12/2009 20:30

Acidophlus a must after antibiotics ... Good quality from the fridge at good health food shop x

paddyclamp · 30/12/2009 00:24

purepurple · 30/12/2009 06:50

EHA seems to think it was norovirus. 1 member of staff was tested for salmonella, but came back negative.

I am in FY8
