Medication to delay period?

Trojan1970 · 23/12/2009 15:48

Hi - I have just worked out my peroid is due right in the middle of my holiday in a few weeks time.

Does anyone know if there is any medication that I can take to delay my period?

I'm not on the pill so can't keep skip the 'break' between packets. My periods are quite grim and I don't want to be 'on' on my hols.

Any advice welcome please.

Thanks all.

can't you go on the pill, i did once for a holiday

no period from first day you take the pill

it was only one packet I think, maybe only three weeks

ask GP they will help, sorry can't remember which pill it was

Your GP can prescribe something - it is one if the contraceptive pills. Think you just need to start taking it about 3 days before your period is due

The pharmacist will know what it is - although you do need a prescription. Dd was thinking about it for when she was on D of E - apparently quite a few of the girls use it.

You can get loethesterone (wrong spelling i'm sure) from the gp. It works brilliantly.

I took Norethisterone to delay my period, it worked a treat!

eastendmummy · 23/12/2009 17:27

Woops! That was terrible spelling but timeforme has it correct.

Norethisterone.

You need to take it the period before your holiday one, to alter your cycle as it can have some nasty side effects.

Take it 6+ days before period is due and then for however long you want to delay things, be warned the period that comes after is not nice!

I need to take it again in February, whenever we book a holiday, my period is always due!

it gave me really bad belly ache and really bloated me out too.
