Hi, My 3.5 year old and 18 month old are both showing symptoms of flu: fever, running nose, bad cough, congestion & phlem but the fever will come and go with calprofen - once the fever breaks it doesn't come back for around 24 hours which seems rather odd. DS1 has even had a recurring case where he was fine for over a week and then got sick again.

Is this really swine flu or just a bug? Or seasonal flu? DH and I are healthier and we had the seasonal flu jab this year. Anyone have anything like this? It's reasonably mild so I'm not too concerned but I'd love to know if other people are having the same thing and how long it took to recover.

My DD 16mo had swine flu but her temperature was pretty consistently high throughout.

It lasted about 5 days.

I've been told by the gp that temp spikes like that are typical of a virus. My dds had something which may or may not have been a mild case of swine flu, their temp spikes were closer together though, about every 4 hrs.

thanks - whatever this is, I'm just glad it's mild! Both boys are grumpy but well enough to be fighting...

Ds1 had something that lasted about 5 days - 40C temps every night that needed max alternating doses of calpol and nurofen to get them down. Every morning he'd be fine. Then sometime in the afternoon it would start again. He had a cough and all-over acheyness too.

His class teacher had confirmed swine flu the week before.

Ds2 had something very similar the week before ds1.

Dd had one day with a temp and then got better, just left with a cough.

Dh has been fine.

I was ill with what felt like a normal cold - but I've had the SF jab, and the seasonal fluj jab too.

No idea what we've all had, and I'm now dithering about whether ds2 should have the SF jab or whether he's had SF already.

thanks fruitful. Ds1 is back with a temp today but not horribly unwell and DS2 is just full of snot. It seems to be alternating between them...
