How many of you have taken your preschoolers for their flu vaccine?

That's it really.
Just received a letter from our doctor surgery to ask me to book the vaccine appt for my ds, who is 2yrs.
The letter says they are giving it to children 6mths-5yrs.
Have those of you who have received similar letters all taken your dcs for the vaccine?
If not, what are your reasons for not doing so?

We got the letter this morning, and are not going to do it.

I will be taking dd2 after x-mas (not before because i don't want her feeling ill for x-mas).

FiveGoMadInDorset - what are your reasons for not doing it? I ask purely out of interest as I find I'm not sure how I feel about the prospect!

My DS2 hasn't been invited yet. I think I am going to do it as I have major surgery (with a long healing period) in a month and I don't think DH and I can cope with a small child having flu in the aftermath of that. Also he's very small for his age and has had croup three times.

ILikeLentils - sounds sensible.
Good luck with the surgery and recovery btw.

Just not happy about how quickly it has been brought out. A friend who is the HV for older children has also had the jab and was very ill with it.

Five - my father had a bad reaction to it and felt quite poorly for a couple of days but my sil, who is pregnant, hasn't had any side effects.
Agree it's a decision that's quite hard to take with it being such a new thing.
