Chicken pox - do the first look like zits?

Hi - I hope this is in the right section - can I ask a silly question please?

DS 2.9 has 6 nasty, red, zit like spots appear this evening on chest and back. He's fine in himself, no high temp, usual cheeky monkey, eating and drinking fine. Said his head itches, but I can't see anything where he's scratching and no sign of nits either.

Could this be the start of chicken pox?

Thanks in advance.

chicken pox spots are quite big, and they usually appear very quickly.
with ds1 he had a few in his nappy one morning, and by the afternoon they'd spread all up his tummy. by the next morning he was covered!

I thought mine were spots at first. I got it quite mildly. I would say I had about 40-50 spots in total

Thanks, will expect the worst in the morning

Got in to the Dr's today, def is Chicken Pox. Oh well, better now than in a few weeks when we're booked on holiday. Thanks for the replies. As always, Mumsnet is like having a really nice big sister!
